Two organisers. Two diagnoses. One night.
Julie Flanagan and Mark Rooney were both being treated for cancer when they decided Oldham needed a night like this. Julie sings with her band, Three Little Birds. Mark, two years into treatment for stage 4 bowel cancer, hosted the show and kept the room laughing all evening.
More than 100 guests sat down to a two-course curry dinner at Blue Tiffin, followed by an evening of music and comedy performed entirely by cancer patients and survivors.
Every ticket and raffle entry went toward scalp cooling machines for the Victoria Unit at Royal Oldham Hospital, helping patients hold onto their hair through chemotherapy.
